CTA Pathology H & E Staining - Hematoxylin and Eosin

How to send specimens for H&E Testing

  • 10% Formalin--Skin or mucosal specimens for routine H&E analysis must be sent in 10% formalin. The container size should provide generous space for the specimen. CTA Pathology will provide bottles of 10% formalin. The specimen can be transported at room temperature. There is no time constraint on shipment.

  • Patient Identifiers--The specimen should be labeled with at least two patient identifiers (Name and date of birth) on the label.

  • Clinical Data--The clinician should submit appropriate clinical data when indicated, to assist in interpretation.
